    Complete Building Services, a building operations and facilities maintenance company, is currently seeking a Technical Sales Specialist. CBS is a division of The Donohoe Companies, Inc. - Washington's oldest real estate company.


    We have an outstanding opportunity for the right candidate to join us as a Technical Sales Specialist and be a key part of our growth. The Energy Management and Building Automation team at Complete Building Services are experts in system integration, new construction installs and control system retrofits.


    In this position, you will work directly with the team to identify, develop and implement projects including design-build retrofits, system integrations, new construction projects, and energy efficiency upgrades. You will lead technical aspects of the sales process and develop creative solutions to customer issues and facility needs.


    The Technical Sales Specialist will have significant interaction with the customer's organization, including technical and financial decision makers. You will be responsible for developing comprehensive solution and estimates for existing and new customers. Knowledge of and proficiency with design and construction methods for HVAC, Building Automation Systems, and other energy systems is critical.


    • Assists team to identify customer pain and facility needs
    • Performs building walk-through and identify project opportunities
    • Understands building systems including HVAC, lighting, controls, chiller plants, and electrical
    • Ability to understand outdated legacy type equipment and propose new solutions or integrate into new equipment
    • Possesses a complete understanding of infrastructure requirements as it pertains to equipment being proposed or supported (cabling, power, environmental, conduits/raceways, etc.)
    • Provides technical assistance to operations and the field organization ensuring proper understanding regarding the proposed solution's intent
    • Works directly with vendor and subcontractor partners and coordinates with internal team to:
      • Develop project scopes, budgets and cost savings
      • Prepares profitable labor, material, sub-contractor estimates
      • Assists with preparation of contract documents
      • Assists at customer meetings and presentations
      • Act with a bias toward customer satisfaction and growth, balanced with appropriate risk analysis




    • Preferred 5 (minimum of 2) years’ experience within related field
    • Bachelor's Degree preferred
    • 1 year proficiency in design, pricing and implementation of related systems
    • Field experience preferred but not required
    • Excellent oral and written communication skills
    • Ability to interpret blueprints/CAD drawings, identify design deficiencies and solutions
    • Customer focused, with the ability to effectively interact with internal organization and customer representatives
    • Possess high level of PC literacy (Microsoft Office Suite, Server applications)
    • Must be able to balance the highly technical hands-on tasks with the soft skills of project management, and strategic sales support while maintaining a commitment to continual education to be a leading technical resource in the industry
    • The ability to translate difficult technical information, procedures, and vision to non-technical persons is a key challenge
    • Position requires a high degree of self-management including scheduling and prioritization of work

    Over a three year period, we envision the successful person developing into a technical leader of our team. You will continuously develop your technical skills including design, construction and operation of HVAC, Building Automation Systems. You will be the primary resource for evaluation and analysis of emerging technologies, and key energy trends that affect our business strategies. You will provide leadership to internal team members and manage external team partners including consulting engineers, product vendors, and contractors. You will maintain and advance customer relationships by acting as technical resource and customer advocate.
