    Donohoe is seeking a full-time Human Resources Manager for our Bethesda, MD headquarters.  Reporting to the Vice President of Human Resources, the HR Manager is involved in the entire employee life cycle: talent acquisition, engagement, development, performance, separation, company policy and legal compliance.

    • Develop accurate, effective position descriptions for current and anticipated openings.  Work with internal recruiters to build and communicate our employer brand.
    • Conduct informative new hire orientations that leave employees feeling secure in their decision to join us.
    • Create engaging HR communications to advise employees about benefit programs, policies and procedures, and other vital information.
    • Partner with managers to improve the quality and delivery of both performance reviews and regular feedback.
    • Work with business units to identify competency, knowledge and talent gaps, and build solutions to address these.
    • Plan leadership and management development and training programs that support department goals and succession planning processes.
    • Offer disciplinary guidance to supervisors, conduct investigations, and provide coaching/conflict resolution when appropriate.
    • Provide back-up support on all HR administrative tasks, such as background checks, drug testing, onboarding, benefits enrollment, FMLA and COBRA correspondence.
    • Participate in compensation and benefit surveys and share results with management.
    • Roll up the sleeves and pitch in on other department projects, such as open enrollment and wellness initiatives.


    • Bachelor’s degree and 7+ years of HR or related experience is required. HR certification (SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, SPHR or PHR) is a plus.
    • Microsoft Office proficiency, HCM/HRIS experience is required.  Desktop publishing software experience is highly desirable.
    • Solid knowledge of federal and state employment law is required.
    • To succeed in this role, you should be energetic, self-motivated, organized, attentive to details, able to prioritize and have exceptional customer service skills.
    • The ability to communicate ideas and recommendations clearly and concisely is critical. You should be diplomatic, approachable, and able to maintain confidentiality.  You should be able to develop and maintain effective working relationships with employees, business partners, and management.
    • Previous HR experience in construction, commercial real estate, facilities management, or hospitality is a plus.
