Overview

Complete Building Services, a building operations and facilities maintenance company, is currently seeking a Project Developer. CBS is a division of The Donohoe Companies, Inc. - Washington's oldest real estate company.

 

We have an outstanding opportunity for the right candidate to join us as a Project Developer and be a key part of our growth. The Energy Management and Building Automation team at Complete Building Services are experts in system integration, new construction installs and control system retrofits. CBS maintains and monitors over five million control points throughout the DC metro area. On average, our clients realize energy savings of 20% through our energy management strategies and implementation.

 

In this position, you will work directly with the team to identify, develop and implement projects including design-build retrofits, integrations, energy efficiency upgrades, and controls projects. You'll lead technical aspects of the sales process and develop creative solutions to customer issues and facility needs.

 

The project Developer acts as the primary technical resource for the team. Knowledge of and proficiency with design construction methods for HVAC, Building Automation Systems, lighting, and other energy and water consuming systems is critical. This position will lead the project development for complex solutions, energy efficiency retrofits, and owner-direct controls projects.

 

The Project Developer will have significant interaction with the customer's organization, including technical and financial decision makers. The position is not sales support, rather a key member of the team that effectively monitors sales process, develops technical solutions, influences sales strategies, mitigates risk, ensures customer satisfaction, and supports profitable sales growth for energy services and contracting projects.

 

Responsibilities

  • Assists team to identify customer pain and facility needs
  • Performs building walk-throughs and identifies project opportunities
  • Collects building and energy data and evaluates building performance
  • Understands building systems including HVAC, lighting, controls, chiller plants, electrical, and plumbing
  • Demonstrates a high level of proficiency with computer simulation tools, energy consumption profiles in buildings, utility rates and rebates programs, utility supply options, engineering economics and cost-saving calculations
  • Maintains professional certifications and licenses including P.E., C.E.M., and LEED AP
  • Processes and utilizes strong written and oral communication skills

 

  • Works directly with vendor and subcontractor partners and coordinates with internal team to:
    • Develop project scopes, budgets and cost savings
    • Prepares profitable labor, material, sub-contractor estimates
    • Assists with preparation of contract documents
    • Assists at customer meetings and presentations
    • Acts with a bias towards customer satisfaction and growth, balanced with appropriate risk analysis

Leadership Expectations:

 

Over a three year period, we envision the successful person developing into the overall technical leader of our team. You will continuously develop your technical skills including design, construction and operation of HVAC, Building Automation Systems, lighting, district energy systems, and Intelligent Services. You will be the primary resource for evaluation and analysis of emerging technologies, new energy services offerings, energy legislation, and key energy trends that affect our business strategies. You will provide leadership to internal team members and manage external team partners including consulting engineers, product vendors, contractors and utility providers. You will coach other team members in technical aspects of energy services. You'll maintain and advance customer relationships by acting as technical resource and customer advocate.

 

 

Qualifications

  • Minimum 4 years’ experience
  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Licenses/Certifications: Tridium AX
  • Work effectively and efficiently within a team environment
  • Professionally communicate verbally and in writing
  • Learn quickly and think independently
  • Must have the ability to multi-task and produce desired results in a deadline driven environment
